About VISION:To foster a strong sense of community, pride, and empowerment among individuals of African descent, by promoting cultural heritage, advocating for social equality and justice, providing educational and economic opportunities, and fostering solidarity and collaboration within the African descent community. Ultimately, the vision could be to create a more inclusive and equitable society where people of African descent can thrive and contribute fully.

MISSION


The African Descent Ontario mission is about focusing on supporting and uplifting individuals and communities of African descent in the province in Canada, by advocating for social justice, promoting cultural awareness, providing educational opportunities, and addressing systemic issues affecting people of African descent in Ontario

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES


  1. About Advocacy and Awareness: Raise awareness about the experiences, contributions, and challenges faced by individuals of African descent in Ontario.
  2. Empowerment: Empower individuals and communities through education, skills development, and leadership opportunities.
  3. Community Building: Foster a sense of belonging and solidarity within the African descent community in Ontario through cultural events, support networks, and community initiatives.
  4. About Social Justice: Advocate for policies and practices that promote equality, diversity, and inclusion, while addressing systemic barriers and discrimination.
  5. Health and Well-being: Address health disparities and promote access to healthcare services that meet the unique needs of individuals of African descent.Youth Development: Provide resources and support for the academic, personal, and professional development of young people of African descent in Ontario.
  6. About Collaboration: Collaborate with government agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders to implement effective strategies for positive change and development within the African descent community.

ACHIEVEMENTS:

Policy Impact: Successfully advocating for policy changes at the municipal, provincial, or federal level that address systemic issues affecting individuals of African descent in Ontario, such as anti-racism initiatives, equitable access to education and healthcare, and economic empowerment programs.
  2. About Community Empowerment: Establishing programs and initiatives that empower members of the African descent community in Ontario to achieve their full potential, including educational scholarships, mentorship programs, entrepreneurship support, and leadership development opportunities.
  3. About Cultural Celebration: Organizing and hosting cultural events, festivals, and workshops that celebrate the rich heritage and contributions of individuals of African descent to Ontario’s diverse society, fostering greater cultural understanding and appreciation.
  4. Health and Wellness Initiatives: Implementing health and wellness programs tailored to the specific needs of the African descent community in Ontario, such as mental health support services, wellness workshops, and initiatives to address health disparities and promote healthy living.
  5. About Youth Engagement: Engaging and inspiring youth of African descent in Ontario through youth-led initiatives, educational programs, and community service projects, fostering a sense of pride, identity, and civic engagement among young people.

Partnerships and Collaboration: Establishing partnerships and collaborations with government agencies, educational institutions, businesses, and other community organizations to leverage resources and expertise, maximize impact, and create sustainable change for the African descent community in Ontario.

Recognition and Representation: Increasing visibility and representation of individuals of African descent in Ontario across various sectors, including government, media, arts and culture, academia, and business, ensuring that their voices are heard and their contributions are recognized and valued.

OUR COMMITMENT

We will work with and for youths, seniors and the entire community to meet the growing and changing needs of our aging population with a place they call a home in Ontario Canada

We will have effective committed people.

Our goal is to recruit, retain, develop, and recognize diverse, skilled staff and volunteers who passionately fulfill our mission for advancement of people of African descents.

We will increase and diversify revenue sources.

Increase financial resources by expanding our development streams, engage and grow our donor base with a focus on planned giving and secure undesignated, private, foundation and trust funding as well as creating our financial sources.

We will expand our presence and visibility in Toronto &ON.

Increase awareness of our programs, services and funding needs, collaborate with partners, municipal, provincial and federal government and communities to respond to the diverse and growing needs of seniors and expand our seniors housing programs and support services.
