Community Leadership Award Acceptance Speech

Ms Suzan received the community leadership award for doing amazing work in the community. She started by saying hello to everyone who attended the conference, then introduced herself as
Susan, a Kenyan but emphasized that as she was standing before them, she was not from Kenya but from Africa. She thanked the president, Hope for the recognition of the award. Likewise, she mentioned that when she saw the message she was amazed and was wondering that she was like from Kenya but was a Ugandan Community doing the award ceremony, and yet she was chosen. She said to her, it was so amazing, and it was something that she learned, that we should not help people because they come from where we come from because it was the first award in Canada being given by a different Community by a different person from a different country from where she comes.

She further said that it should love one another and share with one another and also help one another the way that we help our brothers and sisters from the same country.  She continued to say that she has done like three conferences with the president of ADSON Madame Hope in Toronto and that she has seen her work and that the president is more than a mother as young as and also more than a sister. Furthermore, she also mentioned that more than once brothers and sisters call her asking for where to get a shelter because they are sleeping outside, and she usually calls President Hope, who always responds and immediately gets them somewhere they can sleep or something else they need. She urged the people to focus on loving one another and helping the brothers and sisters who come into the country, because it is so challenging for them. Not only that, but she also emphasized that when they see the newcomers, brothers and sisters, they stand with them because there is something called mental issues in the country as some of the Newcomers go through hell and a lot ang you get most of them getting into drugs because they are not getting the right people to lead them where they are supposed to go and they what they are supposed to do.

She concluded by saying that she was so grateful for everyone present for the so much love they showed her and that it was not the end but just the beginning and the African Descent Community will go far if they continue holding one another’s hand, and she was so grateful for the whole team.
